Designed in the vast expanse of the desert area of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the project explores transitory dwelling for workers in a nearby Resort. In the context of traditional residential architecture, the building evolves around central gathering space - typically, a courtyard.
Having in mind the activities of the workers' daily life, incorporating aspects of service as well as temporary living, our aim was to merge them with traditional spatial disposition.

In traditional typologies, the courtyard remained open, serving as a breathing void at the heart of the building. In our case, however, the courtyard has been reinterpreted as a closed, interiorized space. This decision stems from the dual function of the building — both as a place of rest and as a space of labor.
Since workers circulate frequently in and out of the premises, the courtyard became the natural threshold for these transitions. By enclosing it, we created a central hub that allows continuous movement through internal passages without compromising privacy or climatic performance.
